Man dupes bank by producing fake document, gets 5-yrs in jail
Manama : An Arab man, accused of cheating a bank, has been sentenced to five years behind bars on grounds of fraud.
The defendant is said to have conned an international bank operating in Bahrain by getting an auto loan worth BD16,000 with fake employment certificates.
According to court files, the defendant produced certificates showing that he was working in the Ministry of Health. The bank officials accepted his request and processed the documents.
As soon as the defendant received the keys of the car, he fled away with it. He was held guilty in absentia.
Another Iraqi man was also implicated in the same case, but he was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
