Manama Souq Masjid Imam passes away
Manama : Imam of Manama Souq Masjid Maqbool Ahmad (40) died yesterday at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) hospital. Ahmad, who hails from Pakistan’s capital city of Islamabad, is survived by his wife and two children who are residing in the Kingdom.
Maqbool Ahmad arrived in Bahrain in 1997 and for the past 17 years he has been an Imam with the Awkaf directorate.
He died yesterday 12.30am at the Salmaniya Medical Complex hospital due to lung tumour, according to a statement. Ahmad was well-loved by people as an Imam and was very helpful to the worshippers during Khutbah on Fridays.
“His body is kept in the SMC mortuary and will be buried in the Kingdom once the paperworks are completed,” informed his brother.
“We have to get the death certificate and the no objection certificate from the concerned authrorities. As the government offices are closed for holidays, the burial will take place hopefully on Thursday.”he said.
