MP flays Hezbollah leader’s remarks

ManamaA Bahraini lawmaker slammed the recent hostile statements made by a terrorist organisation’s leader against the Kingdom.

Parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee Member Jamal Buhassan denounced the remarks of Hezbollah General Secretary Hassan Nasrallah against Bahrain during a religious ceremony held in Lebanon on October 11.

“You better look into the unending problems in your country,” Buhassan stated, addressing Nasrallah. “Those who aren’t capable of electing a President or solving an issue as small as waste disposal in their own country shouldn’t interfere in the internal affairs of others.”

“Our Kingdom has been stable for more than two centuries. Hezbollah and other parties have lobbied their way into the Lebanese decision making bureaus and paralysed the political life in the country,” he added.

The MP also commented on Hezbollah support to certain political parties in Lebanon that contributed to worsening the situations there.

“Instead of making hostile statements against Bahrain, Nasrallah should advise his supporters to work alongside the Lebanese Government to develop their country, rather than constantly clashing with the authorities.”

Buhassan’s statements came in response to Nasrallah’s speech during an event held in Beirut as part of the annual Ashura commemorations. He accused the Bahraini judicial authorities of targeting figures of the Shia sect in the Kingdom. Nasrallah also voiced his support to some criminal figures in Bahrain and warned of a “revolution” in the country.

Similar threats were made against Bahrain by Iranian Revolutionary Guard General Qassim Suleimani, who told Iranian media last June that “a popular revolution will spark in Bahrain and will leave no option for the people, but to resort to armed resistance.”
