Focus on health
Manama : The Cabinet yesterday approved a new national health plan to address challenges across the sector through the delivery of an integrated healthcare system.
The plan, following recommendations of the Government Executive Committee, will address the rapid growth in population size and the rise of chronic diseases.
A number of initiatives to enhance public services were approved in the weekly cabinet session, chaired by Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
A collaboration between the Supreme Council of Health and the South Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment (HIRA) on health insurance technologies was also approved.
Moving ahead, the Cabinet also approved a number of suggestions made by the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs. These include that for medication used to treat chronic diseases and conditions, tests that allow medical and health professions to apply for a practice licence, improving infrastructure facilities in new residential areas, electricity metres and employment of foreign workers.
Prince Salman emphasised that the Bahrain’s first government forum held recently would help improve citizens’ living standards and provide greater economic prosperity to the Kingdom. The government’s efforts to advance sustainable development was also lauded.
HRH the Crown Prince also encouraged to drive up performance levels as it is critical to meet the ambitious goals of Bahrain Vision 2030 and facilitate long-term prosperity.
Bahrain-Tunisia cooperation highlighted
The Cabinet reviewed 17 MoUs and cooperation agreements seeking to expand Bahrain-Tunisia cooperation across various sectors.
The agreements will be referred to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs.
