Abdulla Sultan and Salem Khalifa create new record

Manama : A new record has been created in the Johnnie Walker Foursomes competition at Awali Golf Club. In the competition sponsored by the BMMI, the winning pair of Abdulla Sultan Faraj and Salem Khalifa returned an outstanding score of 45 points never before achieved in its 50 year history.

The format saw golfers compete in teams of two, taking turns to tee off and continuing to take alternate shots until the hole is finished, which proved challenging to many golfers as they found themselves in positions on the course they had never seen before.

It turned out to be a closely contended match with five teams vying for fourth position on 38 points.

During prize distribution, Club Captain Bill Scarth highlighted the long history of BMMI under previous names which dates back to 1883.

The Club has recently upgraded all the tee-box signage around the Course.

Never one to let an opportunity slip by, the Captain has been auctioning two of the old signs after each competition.

Bidding for these unique items of Club memorabilia has been fierce and so far six signs have been auctioned and an impressive BD225 raised for charity.

Prizes were presented by Club captain Bill Scarth and Tournament Director Serwin Rampersad.
