Gulf Air bans Samsung Galaxy Note 7
Manama : Several airlines have issued warning against carrying Galaxy Note 7 devices onboard.
This includes Bahrain’s national carrier, Gulf Air, which said on its official website, “In light of the recent safety concerns raised about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices, with immediate effect, passengers must not switch on or charge these devices on board. These devices are prohibited in checked-in baggage. Please be informed of the recent instructions issued by EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) and that the device must be switched off and remain switched off for the duration of the flight.”
Similar statements were made by other regional players such as Saudi Arabian Airlines, which banned its passengers and crew from using the Galaxy Note 7 on its
flights.
As reported earlier, Samsung announced a global recall of around 2.5 million Note 7s on September 2. But the wheels came off the whole recall process as reports emerged of replacement phones also catching fire.
