Technology transforming fertiliser biz: Dr. Jawahery

Manama : The Arab fertiliser industry is witnessing significant development in the use of best available techniques, said a top AFA official. 

This, according to Arab Fertiliser Association (AFA) President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, has helped improve the quality of fertilisers, rationalise energy consumption and preserve the environment. 

He was speaking at the 29th Annual Technical Conference in the Tunisian capital, Tunis. The event held from October 11 to 13 under the patronage of the Tunisian Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy Hala Sheikh Rouho was opened by Jawahery. 

The conference discussed 19 technical papers on nitrogen fertilisers, phosphate and potash industries as well as plant operations, innovation and technology, research and development, equipment and maintenance, energy conservation, health and safety and the environment. 

More than 300 Arab and international companies specialised in the fertiliser industry as well as producers of equipment and chemicals, took part in the event.

Twelve Arab and international companies from Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Britain, Belgium, Denmark, France, India, the Netherlands, China and Russia took part in an accompanying exhibition and displayed the latest global technology used in the fertiliser industry.
