“This is a special occasion to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the free trade agreement between Bahrain and the USA. This agreement is one of just 14 trade agreements entered into by the USA, signifying the special relationship enjoyed between these two great nations. This elevates Bahrain in its international status and in particular, indicates how much the USA respects Bahrain for its leadership in respect to intellectual property, human rights and labour practices.

“On a personal level as an American and long-term Bahraini resident, I have great love for both of these countries. For me, the FTA reflects this deep bond. As a consumer, I have certainly enjoyed the increasing number and availability of US products through the years.

“However, even more than seeing American products here, I was most impressed a year ago when my mother, living in Los Angeles, reported that she had just purchased a set of Ralph Lauren bed sheets at a store in California and after she brought them home, she noticed that label proudly displayed that the sheets had been ‘Made in Bahrain!’ That was a pretty special day!”
