BritMUN: Youth urged to embrace innovation

Manama : “Today’s young generation should enhance equality for all and embrace technology and innovation,” urged Amin Sharkawi, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative.

He was speaking during the opening ceremony of BritMUN IV conference held at Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel.

Director of Model United Nations Shakheel Sheikh and Marietta Dias, Chairperson of Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) also attended the event.

NAIMUN (North American Invitational Model United Nations) CEO Mathew Robinson said, “MUN is a format for students to debate on real-world topics with each other in a collaborative way so that they have the opportunity not only to research, but also to apply the learning they gained by pursuing those specific topics. I am happy this is happening at a large scale in Bahrain.”

Meanwhile, Yannis Panagis, Secretary General of MUN, said the conference had a long and complex planning process and thanked his team members for successfully organising the event.

Speaking to DT News, Rashad Janahi, the Executive Chairman of British School of Bahrain, said, “This time the BritMUN is different from all the previous events that took place. We have partnership with Georgetown University. This is the first time it is happening outside the US. They’ve had their experience in China and India, but in Middle East it’s new.”
