Perfect relations with India
Manama : A combined effort is vital to combat terrorism and address the security challenges created by regional developments, said Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. “Terrorism and extremist beliefs go against all basic human principles,” remarked Prince Salman.
In a meeting with Indian Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday, HRH Crown Prince said the commitment of both countries to address human trafficking is based on protecting human dignity from all forms of exploitation.
Highlighting the importance of strengthening Bahraini-Indian ties, the Crown Prince recalled the depth of cultural links that had existed between the two nations for centuries. He noted that exchange visits across all levels have played a pivotal role in strengthening the relationship.
During the meeting, Prince Salman expressed his hope for a successful first meeting of the Bahrain-India Security Committee, which will be attended by Minister Singh. The meeting will cover a range of important security issues, including combatting terrorism and human trafficking.
HRH Crown Prince emphasised that the Bahrain-India Security Committee will contribute to the countries’ broader collaborative efforts in a range of sectors. He pointed out that the Committee meeting would see the activation of a security agreement signed between Bahrain and India last December.
Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh stressed his hopes for a successful visit to the Kingdom. Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa was also present in the meeting.
