Shaikh Nasser congratulates football teams

Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee congratulated the teams to qualify for the semi-finals of the football tournament in the first Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games and eighth Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Football Championship (Nasser 8).
The semi-final first legs are set for tonight with Victorious against Al Fakhar at 9pm and Batelco Gunners United and Al Nuwayef at 11pm with both matches at the Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town.


The second leg matches will take place on Monday with the final set for July 3.
In the latest matches, players of the match awards sponsored by Fast Link Establishment went to Batelco Gunners United player Mahmoud Abdulrahman (Ringo) against Forever and Mohammed Abdulla Al Najdi from Al Nuwayef against Nomas.
Shaikh Nasser noted that the football championship has achieve noble goals towards the Bahraini youth and sports sector and has unearthed a number of players who have played for the national team and clubs after being discovered in previous championships.


The Nasser 8 advisory committee also held a meeting chaired by Bahrain Olympic Committee Secretary-General Abdulrahman Askar and was attended by HH Shaikh Nasser Media and Information Centre Head and Nasser 8 Supreme Organising Committee Chairman Tawfeeq Al Salehy.
They discussed the final preparations of the volleyball, basketball and football tournaments and Askar called on committee members to instruct the participating teams to commit to the rules, regulations and conditions of the championship.
Meanwhile, the Basketball competition is underway at the Bahrain Basketball Association in Umm Al Hassam with Group A comprising Manama, Al Najma and Muharraq and Group B featuring Al Ahli, Al Hala and VIP, with the final set for July 1.
