Call for preserving ecology

ManamaThe importance of joint governmental and non-governmental efforts to preserve the ecological balance of the industrial area in Salmabad was stressed by Northern Governor Ali Al Asfoor yesterday. 

The move came after the Governorate noticed several irregularities in the industrial and services area, since the start of the campaign in June.

Based on which a field trip was undertaken by Northern Governorate here in coordination with the Industry and Commerce Ministry, Supreme Council for Environment and Northern Governorate.

Commenting on the violations found, Al Asfoor  said that there is an urgent need to link the registration renewal system of commercial, industrial and service records with the violations system maintained by the Northern Governorate.

To this end, he also disclosed  the cases of two factories and a work station that functions violating registration norms. Experts from Industry and Commerce Ministry also confirmed these irregularities.

Moving on, he explained the ongoing process to remove abandoned cars. The governor said that legal actions were taken against 400 abandoned cars found in the area during last week. This will continue in Salmabad over the next 10 days, he added. 

Al Asfoor further said that the campaign which started in June 2016 to improve the environmental situation in the industrial area of Salmabad also monitors sources of air pollution. Besides, the system links health records and statistics of citizens and residents as provided by the Health Ministry.
