Siddharth knocks out Geber

Manama : In an amazing day of yesterday at the Eighth Bahrain Junior ITF Championships hosted by the Bahrain Tennis Club in (BTC) in Juffair, the remaining two seeds in the Boys Singles quarter finals were knocked out.

Siddharth Thakran, of India knocked out the third seed Adham Geber, of Egypt after coming from a set down to win 1-6, 7-6(1), 6-1 and seventh seeded Fahad Al Janahi of the UAE was downed 6-3, 7-5 by Briton Tom Thelwall Jones.

The other two matches featuring unseeded players saw Briton Sebastian Tong defeat Switzerland’s Andrija Pavlovic 6-4, 6-2 and Serbian Viktor Jovic (Srb) getting the better of Bahrain’s last hope Elyas Abdulnabi 6-1, 6-1.

In the Girls Singles quarter finals, top seeded Hala Khaled from Egypt was an easy 6-2, 6-0 winner over sixth seed Aaliya Ebrahim of India, while second seed Egyptian Hala Fouad knocked out fifth seed Themis Haliou of Cyp 6-3, 6-4.

In the other quarter final matches, fourth seed Briton Alexandra Hunter (Gbr) was a 7-5, 6-1 winner over India’s unseeded Salsa Aher (Ind) 7-5, 6-and Turkish seventh seed Zeynep Sena Sarioglan came from a set down to (Tur) beat third seeded Iranian Sadaf Sadeghvaziri 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

The Boys Doubles semi-finals saw British duo Oliver Mayo and Sebastian Tong  knock out top seeds Ali Dawani of Bahrain and Iranian Armin Rostami 6-2, 6-4 and the pair will face Oman’s Younis Al Rawahi and Briton Tom Thelwall Jones in the final after they defeated fourth seeds Christian Linge of Norway and India’s Siddharth Thakran 6-3, 6-2.

Girls Doubles action saw British duo Amelia Bissett and Annali Olivelle upset top seeds Hala Khaled of Egypt and Iran’s Sadaf Sadeghvaziri 6-4, 6-4.
