Countdown begins for Bahrain Motorsport Festival

Manama : Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) begins its final 20-day countdown today for the first-ever Bahrain Motorsport Festival, taking place November 17 to 19 in Sakhir.

The mega event is set to be one of the biggest weekends of international motorsport ever to take place in the region. It will be headlined by a pair of globally renowned racing events, the FIA World Endurance Championship’s (WEC) Bapco 6 Hours of Bahrain and the CIK-FIA Karting World and World Junior Championship.

In addition, there will be loads of off-track attractions in the Action-Ha entertainment programme, organised in cooperation with popular satellite broadcaster MBC.

Tickets to the three-day event cost BD20 each and those aged under 12 years old can get in free and each ticket covers the entire event of racing and Action-Ha and are available by contacting the BIC website and are available from next Tuesday at BIC stand in Bahrain City Centre.

All of the festival’s action at BIC takes place along the 5.412-kilometre Grand Prix track, while the karting will be held at Bahrain International Karting Circuit.

Many of the world’s most prestigious brands in motoring will be represented in Sakhir, including Porsche, Audi, Toyota, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Nissan, while many ex-Formula 1 stars will also be behind the wheel competing. This year’s event is the fifth and features a grid of more than 30 cars, with the start time changed to 4pm and finishing at 10pm.

The CIK-FIA Karting World Junior World Championship will take place at BIC’s world-class karting facility, BIKC and will be in the OK and OK-Junior classes and one of the final meetings of the CIK-FIA’s international season.

Around 150 karters from all over the world are expected to compete, and some are set for stardom in the near future.
