Beauty with brawn

Manama : Sladjana Lucic was born and raised in Southeast European country Montenegro until the age of 10, after which she moved to the neighbouring Serbia with her family and this was where her passion and training for fitness began.

At first, she started her training in athletics, but her older sister Ines pursued her training in bodybuilding. After getting inspired by the latter’s achievements, Lucic too developed a passion for bodybuilding.

After coming to Bahrain, she worked at Four Seasons Hotel, and later for Blacksmith Gym owned by Bahraini bodybuilding pro champion Sami Al Hadad. She is now currently a personal trainer for Al Nakheel Fitness Centre.

Now she is preparing for a fitness competition in December by Bahrain Overall Champion, athlete and personal trainer, Raed Fuad.

Passion for fitness

Speaking to DT News, Lucic talked about her passion for training people, especially women, as well as being part of their journey of motivation.

“I love to see the difference that I make in people’s lives. It is not just the body shape, but about how they change mentally. A lifestyle change is not a small thing as it makes people more confident, secure and committed. I provide individualised weight training and cardio depending on their requirements and health. With my experience, I know when I can push my clients or take it easy on them, as one of their biggest mistakes is underestimating their own bodies. This is where I take control and achieve their goals.”

Lucic has clients of different fitness levels and age ranges at Al Nakheel Ladies Fitness Centre.

“We take body measurements monthly to track the progress as it helps in motivating people,” she said. “My source of strength is my sister Ines who is also in Bahrain working as a personal trainer at Blacksmith Gym. I find inspiration from my trainer Raed Fuad, and also my boyfriend who is my biggest support, considering that he is also in the fitness athletics field.”

She concluded with an inspirational message for those who are passionate about changing not only their body, but their attitude about life as well.

“My message to those who want to achieve goals is that to keep in mind that the required result would not happen in a short period of time. It takes dedication, commitment and hard work. You must believe in yourself! As Muhammad Ali once said, ‘Champions aren’t made in the gym. Champions are made from something deep inside them, a desire, a dream, a vision. Suffer now, and live the rest of your life as a champion’,” she signed off.
