UoB and Huawei celebrate revamping campus network

Manama : Representatives from global ICT solutions provider, Huawei Bahrain and University of Bahrain (UoB) have celebrated the success of revamping UoB’s Isa Town campus network. Serving the increasingly digital higher-education landscape, the collaboration has streamlined the campus’s network speed and coverage with world-class infrastructure. 

Huawei Bahrain installed 120 access points across the campus, increasing the network coverage by 50%. In addition, the university’s campus has been fitted with Huawei’s wireless devices, allowing all users on campus to experience 1000Mbps speeds. The solution also offers easy scalability to satisfy future demands.

Huawei Bahrain’s CEO, Feng Nan Paul said, “This network upgrade aims to facilitate the wave of digital education transforming academia in Bahrain. It will add to the experience of educators and students who are increasingly relying on digital coursework and online learning materials on campus. We’re truly honored to take part in this transformation and improve one of the most prominent higher-education networks in the Kingdom.”

UoB’s Isa Town campus serves as the College of Engineering for a diverse, international student body of around 4200 undergraduates. The college of five departments, namely, Architecture and Interior Design, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering integrates the latest IT solutions to improve performance and productivity of students and educators.
