Bahraini among wanted fugitives in Saudi Arabia
Manama : A Bahraini man is among the most wanted individuals in Saudi Arabia in connection with terrorist activities.
The security authorities there have also announced cash rewards worth SR1 million to SR7m (BD100,000 to BD700,000) for those who provide valuable information that would lead to the arrest of the wanted individuals.
The Bahraini man was identified as Hassan Mahmoud Ali Abdullah, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The fugitives were involved in a number of terrorist activities in the Qatif Governorate and Dammam City, which targeted citizens, expatriates and security officials, SPA quoted a Saudi security spokesperson as saying. They were also charged for sabotaging public utilities as well as security and economic installations, in addition to disrupting public life, he added.
According to the report, the remaining eight fugitives were Saudi nationals and were identified as Jaafar bin Hassan Makki Al Mubaireek, Fadel Abdullah Mohammed Al Hamada, Ali Bilal Saud Al Hamad, Mohammed bin Hussein Ali Al Ammar, Maitham bin Ali Mohammed Al Qudaihi, Mufeed Hamza bin Ali Al Alwan, Majid bin Ali Abdulrahim Al Faraj and Ayman Ibrahim Hasan Al Mukhtar.
In a statement, the Saudi Interior Ministry urged the above-named individuals to “turn themselves into security authorities,” warning that “whoever deals with them will make himself accountable.” The Ministry also urged the public to report any information about them by calling 990 or approaching the nearest security authority. The Saudi ministry urged those with liable information to cooperate with the authorities, stating, “Whoever reports any information about those individuals, leading to their arrest, will receive a financial reward of SR1m.
This reward will be increased to SR5m, if the information leads to the arrest of more than one wanted individual and to SR7m, if the information leads to thwarting a terrorist operation.”
Fugitive left Bahrain 4 years ago
The Ministry of Interior clarified in a statement issued yesterday that the wanted Bahraini man left Bahrain about four years ago and have not returned home ever since.
The Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science General Colonel Abddulaziz Al Rumaihi confirmed that the Bahraini suspect left the country via King Fahd Causeway in 2012,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Immediately after the names of the fugitives were released by the Saudi authorities, arrest warrants were issued for them at Bahrain’s ports as part of the Ministry’s counterterrorism strategy that protects lives, property, security and general safety,” Al Rumaihi added.
