Bid to smuggle woman foiled
Manama : Saudi security authorities have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a woman from Bahrain through King Fahd Causeway recently. “King Fahd Causeway Customs foiled an attempt of illegal entry of a foreign woman into Saudi Arabia, by hiding behind the seats of a vehicle,” King Fahd Causeway Saudi Customs General Director Dhaifallah Al Otaiby said in a statement issued on Sunday.
“When the trafficker reached the Customs checkpoint, the woman was found hiding behind the backseats of the vehicle and covered with an Abaya (black veil) to trick the Customs officers,” he explained.
“When her identity was double-checked, it was revealed that the man was attempting to enter the Kingdom with the woman, without obtaining necessary legal documents. The necessary legal procedures were taken in this regard,” the official informed. However, Al Otaiby didn’t reveal more on the woman’s nationality. DT News reported in March a similar attempt that was foiled by the Saudi officers. Another incident was reported in January.
