Saudi officials reveal role of fugitive in terror cases

Manama : The Bahraini fugitive in Saudi Arabia has a dark history of involvement in security activities, it was announced yesterday. Hassan Mahmoud Ali Abdullah, who has been included among the most wanted terrorists in Saudi Arabia recently, was involved in multiple terrorist acts in the neighbouring Kingdom. Saudi authorities had announced a reward of up to SR7 million (BD700, 000) on his head.

A few days after Saudi security authorities revealed a ‘wanted’ announcement for Abdullah, Bahraini Interior Ministry disclosed more information about the notorious man.

“As a follow up to the statement of the Saudi Interior Ministry on the foiling of a major terrorist attack and the pursuit of fugitives, including a Bahraini, Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science General Director Colonel Abddulaziz Al Rumaihi announced on Tuesday that coordination continues with the Saudi authorities,” an Interior Ministry statement read.

The statement mentioned that “Col. Al Rumaihi highlighted that the wanted Bahraini was born in Syria to a Bahraini father and Saudi mother and that he has consistently participated in rioting in the Qatif region in Saudi Arabia”.

“He has two brothers, who have taken part in terrorist acts. One of whom was killed in crossfire with the Saudi police. Their father was deported from Saudi Arabia and was banned from re-entering the country,” the statement noted.

The General Director also stated that “immediately after the names of the fugitives were released by Saudi authorities, arrest warrants were issued for them at Bahrain’s ports as part of the Ministry’s counterterrorism strategy.”

As DT News reported on Sunday, Abdullah was listed among the most wanted nine individuals in Saudi Arabia, for their involvement in terrorist activities. Saudi Press Agency (SPA) announced that cash rewards of SR1 million to SR7 million (BD100,000 to BD700,000) were dedicated by Saudi security authorities for those who provide valuable information that lead to the arrest of the wanted individuals.

“Whoever reports any information about those individuals that leads to their arrest will receive a financial reward of SR1m according to Royal Order No. 46142/8 dated 26/09/1424H. This reward will be increased to SR5m if the information leads to the arrest of more than one wanted individual and to SR7 million if the information leads to thwarting a terrorist operation,” SPA reported.
