Manama : The strong unity of the GCC, demonstrated by the joint police force exercises, shows that the region is ready to deal with all kinds of threats, a joint delegation from GCC police force said yesterday.

“The GCC joint police force exercise ‘Arabian Gulf Security 1’ has been a success so far and the benefits each country will derive from it will be huge,” the delegates told DT News. The exercise is part of the efforts to promote GCC joint security work.

The exercises ensured that there is strong cooperation between units of each force, according to Major Abdallah Al Kaabi of the Qatar Security Force. “During the exercise, we train to tackle all kinds of scenarios that GCC countries face, mainly terrorism. This will promote coordination so that all the forces can work in harmony in case any country needs help,” he said.

“The message we are sending is that the GCC countries are ready to tackle any threats to its stability. Global threats have increased, so we have to be prepared and ready. Our technology and weaponry are highly advanced and is one of the best in the world,” he added.

The exercise has helped the countries in adopting the best mechanisms and avoiding inefficient ones, said Kuwait Police, Director of Police Media Lt Colonel Nasier Abusulaib. “We are ready to face any threat and protect the security of the GCC countries. Through this exercise we were able to identify each other’s strengths and identify the areas to improve,” he said.

Sharing a similar view, Sultan Muhammed Almuhaimeed, spokesperson of Saudi Security Force, said, “This exercise aims to enhance practices and to understand where we stand among other countries. There are a lot of similarities between the threats faced by the GCC countries and that helps us work together better.”

Said Mohammed AlBadee from Oman Security forces said the exercise will help the GCC countries counter terrorism effectively.
