Kingdom shines light on spiritual harmony

ManamaReligious tolerance and freedom in the Kingdom were highlighted during an event held on Saturday.

Held under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan, the gospel musical evening was organised by YMCA Bahrain in association with the National Evangelical Church (NEC) at the Indian School Bahrain.

The event came as part of a series titled, “Peace and Blessings - Bahrain.” The 20-member Journey Band, which is a group of professional musicians and members of the Journey Church, performed on-stage in front of an over-3,000-strong audience.

The Journey Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA has been sending delegations to countries around the world, carrying the Gospel of Peace and Christian Love.

During the event, the minister appreciated the move to organise such events in the Kingdom, which has been the home of people of different cultures, races, religions and beliefs for many centuries.

Stressing on the religious freedom and tolerance in Bahrain, Humaidain said it is a continuation of the vision and directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to ensure equality, coexistence and tolerance among citizens and residents. The minister also reiterated the ministry’s support to religious societies and associations, which operate in the Kingdom under the ministry’s umbrella.

The event was attended by YMCA Bahrain President Soman Baby, NEC Pastor Reverend Hani Aziz and a number of religious scholars from different sects and beliefs.
