‘Burglar in disguise’ breaks into apartment
Manama : A burglar posing as a delivery man, stole cash and jewellery worth thousands of dinars from an apartment in Adliya, it has emerged. Zeeshan Begg, a resident of Adliya claims to be the latest victim of the robbery.
“The crime took place between 6.30pm and 10.40pm on Friday while we were out. The thief stole jewellery worth BD8000 and BD120 in cash from the cupboard in the bedroom,” he explained.
“My wife, and two daughters aged nine and three are scared and want to relocate. We moved to Bahrain in 2004 and shifted to Adliya two months back. This is the first time we are facing such a situation,” he said.
Begg said that the thief held a packet of groceries while entering the compound in order to avoid suspicion. The packet was later found left behind in the house.
“There have been around twenty burglaries in the last five years in this area. In all the incidents, the burglar followed a similar pattern. He brings a plastic packet with food inside,” he added. “The absence of CCTV cameras made it more easy for the thief.”
