Royal welcome

ManamaThe deep-rooted Bahraini-UK relations have been built over more than 200 years on solid foundations, shared determination and mutual interests, said His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday.

HM the King was speaking while receiving Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, in the presence of Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. 

The royal visit takes place following an invitation by His Majesty King Hamad.

HM the King commended the important role of Prince Charles as well as his dedicated efforts to expand joint cooperation. King Hamad took pride in the positive results of his recent successful visit to the UK, hailing his fruitful meetings with Queen Elizabeth II and British Prime Minister Theresa May. 

The King lauded the vital role of the British community
and its multifaceted contribution to Bahrain’s development in all sectors, adding that they are always most welcome in the Kingdom. 

King Hamad and the Prince of Wales reviewed ways of developing joint cooperation. Regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

HM the King hosted a dinner banquet yesterday evening at Al Rawdha Palace in honour of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, in the presence of the Crown Prince and Wife of His Majesty the King and Supreme Council for Women Chairwoman HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

Also present were HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Shaikh Hamad bin Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Bahrain Ambassador to the UK Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

Bahrain-UK ties lauded

Earlier in the day, the Crown Prince received the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Sakhir Air Base. 

The Crown Prince highlighted that Bahrain is proud of its longstanding relationship with the UK, noting that this year marks the 200th anniversary of bilateral relations.

Prince Salman also highlighted that throughout this period, both the countries have witnessed significant bilateral development across economic, political, and cultural spheres.

The Crown Prince emphasised that the visit of Prince Charles and Camilla highlights how important the collaborative relationship is between the two nations.

HRH Prince Salman concluded by noting that Bahrain is delighted that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have chosen to visit the Kingdom and extended his best wishes for a successful visit.

The sons of the Crown Prince, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Minister-in-Attendance, Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and other senior officials were also present.
