ManamaHeralding the advent of a “new dimension in Bahrain-UK relations”, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said the visit of Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, will strengthen the bilateral relations and bring people of both countries closer.

The Prime Minister made the statements while receiving Prince of Wales yesterday, on the sidelines of marking the 200th anniversary of their relations.

“The visit will add a new dimension to the deep-rooted relations between the two Kingdoms and the joint cooperation to strengthen security and stability,” the  Premier said.

“Even though the  Bahrain-UK cooperation is growing steadily, more rapprochement  is required to tackle the instable situation in the world,” the PM added.

Prince Khalifa also praised the efforts exerted by the British expatriate community in Bahrain to support the Kingdom’s development march.

While reviewing the latest regional and global developments, the Premier affirmed that collective dialogue and diplomacy are needed to resolve the on-going troubles and conflicts in the region. 

“The region has had enough wars, and it is suffering from serious dangers and threats that may subvert its security and stability,” the Premier said, stressing the importance of UK’s role in maintaining security and stability across the world.

In response, the Prince of Wales lauded the positive developments witnessed by the long-standing Bahraini-British relations, affirming his country’s keenness on bolstering them. He also said that his country was looking forward to opening up new horizons of cooperation with the Kingdom.

Deep rooted ties highlighted

Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa hailed the deep rooted ties between Bahrain and UK, stating that Bahrain continues to attach great importance in fostering and promoting the principles of tolerance and multiculturalism.

Prince Salman along with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall conducted a tour through the Manama Souq.

During their visit the leadership met with students from Bahrain’s public and private schools, as well as members of the Migrant Workers’ Protection Society (MWPS).

The delegation witnessed musical performances and visited hand crafts stalls during the tour of the Manama Souq area, which the Crown Prince said, reflected Bahrain’s deep-rooted tradition and heritage as a trading nation.
