Murder of Policemen: Court adjourns case

Manama : The Supreme Appeals Court has adjourned the hearing of the appeals of ten defendants convicted in connection with murdering three policemen until December, to hear the closing arguments.

Emirati officer First Lieutenant Tariq Al Shehhi, 41, Yemeni Ammar Abdu Ali Al Dhalei, 35, and Pakistani Muhammad Arslan Ramzan, 22, lost their lives in a bomb blast on March 3, 2014.

The bomb was remotely-triggered, as police came under attack during a funeral procession at around 5:00pm in Daih.

Seven others were injured in the detonation which recorded the highest death toll of security forces in a single attack since 2011.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said it was one of three blasts in Daih, although two resulted in no injuries. A fourth bomb was discovered and defused.

Three of the convicts were earlier handed down the death penalty and the rest were given life sentences. The Court earlier stripped eight of the defendants of their Bahraini nationalities.
