Court extends remand in drug peddling case

ManamaThe High Criminal Court has renewed the remand of four Thai women suspected of drug peddling by 15 days each.

The defendants are believed to have sold ‘shabu’ in the Kingdom for another woman living in Thailand and was using the nickname “Mama”.

Following a tip-off received by the anti-drug department, the police planned a sting operation using an undercover agent, who convinced them to sell drugs to him.

The defendants disclosed to the prosecutors that they were smuggling drugs into Bahrain using women’s handbags before they promote them in the country.
