GCC unity vital to stability: PM

ManamaPrime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday hailed the solid bilateral relationship enjoyed by Bahrain and Qatar. 

The Prime Minister while receiving Qatari Premier and Interior Minister Shaikh Abdulla bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also reiterated Bahrain’s keenness to further bolster cooperation at the bilateral and GCC levels. The Qatari Premier was in Bahrain to attend the closing ceremony of the “Arabian Gulf Security 1” exercise.

The leaders reviewed the latest regional and global developments, stressing that the current challenges require intensifying GCC meetings at all levels. This would help adopt visions and strategies that safeguard the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and maintain the prosperity and development drive, the Premier stressed. 

Shaikh Abdulla bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani conveyed to HRH the Prime Minister greetings from the Qatari Amir, Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his appreciation of the role played by the Prime Minister in supporting and strengthening Bahraini-Qatari relations in various fields.

Separately, the Premier held discussions with UAE Deputy Premier and Interior Minister, Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Saudi Crown Prince, First Deputy Premier and Interior Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
