School security guards attacked

Manama : School security guards were attacked by a gang of vandals at the southern part of the Northern Governorate yesterday.

Education Ministry, in a statement, confirmed the incident and said that a  school guards patrol was attacked by terrorists with Molotov cocktails  near Karzakkan Elementary Boys’ School. The statement said the “terrorists blocked the car’s way in all directions before attacking”.

“The on duty patrol was attacked with Molotov cocktails and rocks, causing multiple damages to the vehicle,” the ministry said without clarifying if any of the officers were injured in the attack.

The Ministry’s Public Relations and Media Directorate issued a statement yesterday strongly condemning the incident.

The Directorate revealed that the attackers threatened the on-duty guard while one of the gang filmed the attack on the patrol vehicle.

The statement also revealed that “security authorities were informed about the attack”.

“Targeting security guards is a shameful act and it’s condemned. Risking the lives of workers for public service is criminal. Educational institutions have been targeted more than 500 times in the past five years,” the directorate added.
