Lack of evidence: Man acquitted
Manama : The High Criminal Court has acquitted an Asian man in a molestation case due to insufficient evidence.
The man was put on trial on charges of molesting an American servicewoman serving in the US Marines during her stay in a Bahrain hotel.
The court termed events revealed by the alleged woman as irrational, stating that the crime could not have taken place if she had pleaded for help.
The 30-year-old filed a complaint on the incident one week after her departure from the hotel to her workplace in the Naval Support Activity Bahrain.
In the complaint, she claimed that the alleged assailant came to her room to fix an electrical socket, but he suddenly jumped onto her and molested her.
The court underlined that the evidences against the defendant were insufficient to hold him guilty.
