Health Insurance draft bill to improve quality of services

ManamaThe weekly Cabinet session, chaired by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday, gave its nod on referring the Health Insurance bill to the parliament.

The draft law envisages improving the quality of health services provided to the citizens by ensuring fairness and competitiveness in the sector.

The newly introduced bill will set guidelines on the budget, spending and management of the Health Insurance Fund. It will also keep a check on the commitments of health service providers.

Moving ahead, Prince Khalifa directed authorities to revamp the Manama Central Market by improving its facilities and services. The Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure was tasked to follow up the matter.

On housing, the Premier instructed the Housing Ministry to speed up the distribution of contracts to beneficiaries from Al-Dair and Samaheej. 

The PM also called for developing mechanisms that effectively reduce procedures for distributing housing units.

Prince Khalifa informed the session about his visit to Saudi Arabia and the talks held with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Secretary General of the Cabinet Dr. Yasser bin Essa Al Naser stated.
