Children must 'avoid borax-containing mud slime'
Manama : Homemade "muddy slime" oftentimes molded by children from borax/boron, detergent powders, glues, toothpastes, etc. based on instructions via YouTube is dangerous for health safety of your child, according to Mona Al Alawi head of Specs. & Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
She advised parents and teachers to prevent children from touching or using the so-called "magic mud or 'slime" as children tend to manually shape the malleable "magic mud" into various shapes and figurines as they are unaware of its high toxicity.
'Slime' has frequently been used as homemade insecticide which has negative consequences on reproductive, embryonic health as well as toxic to children and even adults and therefore was categorized by the European Union among the substances that cause dire health hazards.
