Manama : Supreme Council for Youth & Sport Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President & Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Chairman HH Shaikh 

Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa,  was crowned the winner of the Olympic Triathlon, held yesterday in Durrat Marina.

Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the event was the second test ahead of the upcoming Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship in December and it was a great occasion for the athletes to check their fitness levels and technical capabilities beforehand.

“It’s very important for the athletes to understand their general condition ahead of the championship. The event has shown that
our athletes are ready for the upcoming championship. We are anticipating a tight competition in December,” Shaikh Nasser explained.

The Olympic Triathlon concluded with an award-distribution ceremony, where Shaikh Nasser was crowned the winner. The winners of the other categories were also rewarded. 

The Bahrain Triathlon and Duathlon National teams members were congratulated and presented with awards for their outstanding results in the recently-held West Asian Championship held in Jordan.

The Triathlon witnessed the participation of more than 200 athletes  and comprised of three phases; a 1.9km swim, followed by 40km of cycling and a 10km run.

The eagerly-anticipated Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship is scheduled to be held on December 10 in Bahrain.
