Dr Varghese Kurian receives award

Manama : Dr Varghese Kurian, a business personality from the Kingdom, received the Kairali TV Life Time Achievement Award 2016.

Bahrain-based businessman Dr Kurian, who is the Chairman and Managing Director of VKL Holdings and Al Namal Group of Companies, received the award from  Malayalam Communications Limited Chairman and Indian film actor Mammootty in a ceremony organised at the Imperial Trade Centre in Kochi, Kerala on Thursday

Dr Kurian is the largest Indian investor in the Kingdom. The group is involved in a diverse range of activities like construction, healthcare, hospitality, education, real estate and infrastructure development. 

Dr Kurian’s work has brought many Indian and Bahraini business ventures together and created new pathways of prosperity and between the two countries.

A well-known philanthropist, Dr Kurian has personally contributed to social welfare and charity causes in India and Bahrain on innumerable occasions. He is at the forefront when it comes to Bahraini causes such as the funds for injured labourers or the families of workers who die in workplace accidents. 

He has been honoured by the Indian government with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award, the highest civilian honour for non-resident Indians.

The event was attended by  Malayalam Communications Limited  Managing Director John Brittas and other dignitaries. Kairali TV is an Indian television channel broadcasting in Malayalam language  headquartered at Trivandrum.
