Vyom Gupta clinches U-8 Junior Tennis
Manama : Vyom Gupta defeated Hunter Colkitt in straight sets 7-1, 7-2 in the Under-8 years category on the second day of the Bahrain Tennis Academy (BTA) Junior Tournament at the Dilmun Sports Club in Saar.
The third place play-off was won by Aadya Raju 7-4,7-5 against Husain Husain.
Earlier in the semi-finals, lucky loser Hunter filling in for injured Hamza Moussa, defeated Husain Husain in a three tie-break set 7-5, 1-7, 7-3 and Vyom overcame Aadya in straight sets 7-2, 7-3.
BTA and Tournament Director, Dan Barrie said, “We were thrilled with the level of play from the eight-and-under competitors which overall was without doubt the highest level we’ve seen in this category to date.”
Due to the inclement weather, the 10, 12 and 14 under competitions will take place next weekend.
