New policy to develop women entrepreneurs

Manamanew strategy will be implemented to empower women entrepreneurs in the Kingdom, officials announced during a business forum held yesterday at Capital Club in the Bahrain Financial Harbour.

“We have developed a new strategy which is in line with the 2030 economic vision of Bahrain. The ‘Vision for empowering women’ was developed by us in partnership with Applied Science University, UNIDO and supreme council for women,” said Feryal Abdulla Nass, president of Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society

On the occasion, she also affirmed that the society is looking forward to strengthening its business relationship with international organisations. 

To this end, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the society with  Belgian women’s entrepreneur association to enhance the business network and business opportunities between the two countries. 

“We are also signing similar MoUs with Russian organisations,” she added.   

The role of Bahraini business women in the development of the economy was also highlighted during the forum titled ‘Women  Entrepreneurship & Innovation’.

Osama Alarrayed, Undersecretary of Industry Affairs inaugurated the event. He noted that Bahraini businesswomen has contributed immensely to the economy while praising the role of Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society in empowering and supporting women entrepreneurs. 

“The women entrepreneurs in Bahrain are much better placed with several avenues to finance their businesses. We also have the best ICT infrastructure in the region. Our entrepreneurial ecosystem is one of the best and several women led Bahraini enterprises have made their mark not only in the region but also beyond” he said.
