Bahrain-UK ties progressing at all levels: FM

ManamaThe course of relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom is witnessing a remarkable progress in all areas of cooperation, affirmed Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.

The Minister was speaking during the annual dinner hosted by the Bahrain-British Friendship Society, during his visit to the UK. 

Shaikh Khalid praised the historical relations between the two nations, and the progress in various fields after more than 200 years of collaboration, which resulted in the growth of these ties on the political, economic and military fronts.

The Minister said the visit of Prince Charles to Bahrain and his exploration of the Bahraini society was an additional opportunity to expand the ancient relations between the two countries. During his Bahrain tour, the Prince of Wales had admired the Kingdom’s plurality and coexistence, the minister said.

Regarding the upcoming visit of British Prime Minister Theresa May to Bahrain in December, Shaikh Khalid said it underlines the strategic value represented by the bilateral tie of the two countries, and reflects the common determination to promote cooperation at all levels. 

The Minister praised the role of the Bahrain-British Friendship Society in strengthening the relations between the two kingdoms, wishing them continuous success in their endeavours. 

The British Under Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs, Tobias Ellwood, affirmed the strength and diversity of the distinct ties between Bahrain and the UK and praised the constant progress of these relations at all levels.
