After Hasan Hujairi in 2010, Esam Hamad aka Cosmo has been selected to represent Bahrain at Red Bull Music Academy at la Gaite Lyrique in Paris this fall.
Selected by jury from 4,509 applications, this year’s cast of 61 participants is composed of producers, DJs, instrumentalists, vocalists and composers from 37 countries.
They would perform a wide range of musical styles from modern classical to juke, bedroom pop, R&B, shoegaze, techno, instrumental hip hop, power electronics, ambient, jazz, IDM, drone, future bass, disco, drum & bass and beyond.
Cosmo said he was ecstatic to hear the news of inclusion. “It’s a privilege to be selected amongst thousands of really talented artists with contrasting approaches towards music. And I’m happy to put Bahrain on the music map this year,” he said.
From October 25 to November 27, the participants will take part in studio sessions, workshops and lectures with legendary artists at the Academy during their respective 2-week terms.
At night, each participant will join the lineup at one of the many events that will take place at la Gaîté lyrique as part of the Red Bull Music Academy.
The Red Bull Music Academy has been pairing music legends and emerging beatsmiths since 1998 in various cities including Berlin, Cape Town, Melbourne, Barcelona, São Paulo, London, New York City and Tokyo.
Currently there are eleven fully equipped Red Bull studios around the world, and Malja’s QTF Soundspace, the first music studio of its kind in the region.
