Bahrain SWS Endurance set for second round
Manama : A highly competitive field of no less than 20 teams will be battling it out tomorrow in the second round of the Bahrain SWS Endurance Championship in a three-hour spectacle at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.
Action is scheduled to get underway with practice at 4pm. Qualifying practice will then follow at 4.15pm, which will then lead up to the final qualifying session from 5pm.
The race flags off at 6pm and ends a gruelling three hours later at 9pm and is followed by the prize giving at the podium.
Competing squads will be divided into three categories, including Pro, Nations and Corporate.
Currently entered in the Pro class are Batelco Drag 965 Racing, Zain Racing and Ice Racing, In the Nations category, Batelco Drag 965 Juniors are in the fray, along with Zain Dangerous, Racing on Fire LTD, 3S Racing, Trouvay and Cauvin Group, Al Najma Karting Team, Ithmaar BRM and FX 6 Speeds KSA.
The Corporate class features BBK Racing, BBK Online, Omantel Ozone, Omantel Ozone 2, Texel Air Racing, Fun Xtreme, Bahrain Dyno, Kemen Racing and Team Pakistan.
Racing will be held along BIKC’s 1.414-kilometre Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) track. Teams will be going head to head in identical 390cc RT9 Sodikarts.
Heading into the event, Batelco Drag 965 Racing are the favourites to take the overall win, having clinched first place in the first round held last October.
Aside from the overall win, they also clinched the Pro class victory, earning them a memorable double. Winning the Nations class were the Batelco Drag 965 Mechanics.
