Duo to spend five years in jail for drug smuggling
Manama : Two defendants, including a Thai woman and a Bahraini man, was sentenced to five years behind bars for attempting to smuggle drugs into Bahrain.
The defendants are said to have smuggled the drugs by hiding them inside the handles of their bags and shipping them into the country.
Investigations, following a tip-off by the anti-narcotic department at the Ministry of Information led to the discovery of the drugs, following which the defendants were arrested
Along with prison sentence, both were also fined BD3000 each. The Thai woman has also received an additional BD100 fine along with six months imprisonment after she failed a drug test.
