Get ready for a week so french
Manama : The fourth edition of the French Week will be held from January 18 to 23, 2017 under the patronage of HM King’s personal representative HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, announced French Ambassador Bernard Regnauld-Fabre.
The week long celebration titled ‘So French’ is expected to embrace various aspects of the French culture.
“We are able to see the imprint of French innovation, culture and lifestyle in the many parts of our everyday lives here in Bahrain,” said Regnauld-Fabre.
“‘So French’ will highlight four main areas - technology, lifestyle, tourism and infrastructure through a range of events and activities.”
The event has over 30 sponsors and will be held in collaboration with Alliance Française, Atout France, The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bahrain and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, and specialists from the French business community in Bahrain.
Entertainment galore
Celebrated musician Yasmine Hamadan will perform at the Cultural Hall on January 20 as part of the French Week. Yet another attraction will be a photographic exhibition titled ‘Imagine France’ which will take place at the Bahrain Financial Harbour. A full events calendar will be announced in the coming weeks.
Focus on Alsace
A high-level delegation from the Alsace region in France will be visiting Bahrain as part of the ‘So French’ week, which includes senators, as well as business and tourism delegates.
“Alsace is known for their strong and extremely effective support of SMEs, world-renowned craftsmen, gastronomy and historical and cultural sites, which we look forward to introducing to the public when they are here in January,” Regnauld-Fabre said.
The presence of head chef from an Alsace-based three Michelin Star restaurant will add more taste to the celebration. Food, fashion and cosmetics retailers as well as the hospitality sector are encouraged to take part through the website www.sofrench.me
Study in France
A seminar on French education titled ‘Study in France’ will be held on January 23 at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa from 9am to 2pm.
The seminar will focus on four professional sectors: Communication; Audiovisual and Cinema; Gastronomy; Tourism and Hospitality; and Sports and Health.
Delegates from French schools and universities representing each sector will present their programmes and interact with the public.
The seminar is open to all.
Tech, Smart Cities
A seminar on development of digital innovation and quality of life will be held on January 22 at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa.
Three groups of resource people will participate in the seminar from Cap Digital Paris; Bahraini French Town Planning Initiative; Montpellier Tech delegates.
