Summit of growth

ManamaThe 37th Summit of the GCC Supreme Council to be held here on December 6 and 7 will pave way for more integration between the member states, according to Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani.

He pointed out that “the summit of growth” will witness many discussions, pertaining mainly to joint GCC work in political, defence, security, economic and social fields. The summit will also shed light on regional issues, relations of the GCC member states with the rest of the world and counter-terrorism efforts

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who is currently on a GCC tour, will attend the summit, a statement issued by the Saudi Royal Court and carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

Concerning Yemen, the GCC Secretary General stressed that the council still considers a political solution as the best option to settle the conflict and spare the Yemeni people from the horrors of war.

On the agreement to reduce oil production, Al Zayani noted that the Saudi-Russian agreement aims to restore balance and stability to the global oil markets for the interest of productive and consumer countries.

The Secretary General pointed out that the GCC-US relations, after the election of Donald Trump as President, are deep-rooted and multifaceted, including political, economic, security and military fields.
