Asian national gets 6 years in prison for robbery

An Asian national, aged 23, involved in a spat of robberies was sent to 6 years in prison. The High Criminal Court has also ordered for his deportation once he completes his jail term.
The Pakistani accused was reportedly abetted by an accomplice in his crimes, who was sentenced to three years in prison.
The duo reportedly broke into several shops in Manama, including a computer outlet, from where they stole BD68 and prepaid cards worth BD80.
A thorough manhunt was launched after several reported robberies in Manama. When finally the officers found the suspects and approached them, they tried to flee and one of them reportedly attacked a cop.
However, they ended up in police net, and officers found inside their bag tools to break metal locks. The 23-year-old said in his statement that he had resorted to robbery because he was jobless.
"I have been jobless for the past three months, and without a job permit. I had no option but to rob for living," the Pakistani accused told the Public Prosecution,
"I was initially helped by a friend. When he left Bahrain, he gave me the contact number of someone (the second accused). My friend asked me to approach him and ask him for support in my robbery," he added.
The second accused said he has committed five robberies. Both the accused were also given extra ten days in jail each for staying back in Bahrain illegally. The second accused will be deported also once he completes his prison term.
