Huge turnout for Chocolate,Coffee fest
Manama : Over 15,000 visited the Bahrain Chocolate & Coffee exhibition and festival, according to organisers.
A total of 51 exhibitors from six countries, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Jordan participated in the event organised by Events Staarts.
On the event’s final day a large model of Bahrain’s skyscrapers, created from small pieces of chocolate, was launched in the presence of Minister of Industry and Commerce Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani.
Executive Director of Events Staarts, Yasmin Jamal, confirmed the success of the Bahrain Chocolate and Coffee exhibition that underlines the importance of this industry in Bahrain and the region.
There are about 2,200 companies specialised in chocolate and coffee in Bahrain, including many world-renowned brands, she said.
At least 4000 workers, many of them Bahrainis, are employed in this industry.
Besides chocolate and coffee manufacturers, the list includes some of the top hospitality groups, and representatives of global chocolate companies in the region, who aim to boost their brands’ presence in the Gulf and the Arab market, and also strengthen communication with their customers.
“We are working to attract the local manufacturers along with shops that offer many luxury foreign brands mainly produced in many countries,” Ms Jamal added.
The event was held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre from December 8 to 10 under the patronage of Bahrain Tourism and Authority CEO HE Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.
