Jewellery robbers imprisoned
Manama : Three men from the same family were sentenced to five years each in jail for trying to rob a gold shop in East Riffa.
A fourth man was also tried for driving the defendants to the shop. However the High Criminal Court acquitted him since he was not aware of their intention.
The defendants allegedly barged into the shop - masked and holding hammers. One of the men attacked the Indian salesman while another broke the windows to steal gold jewellery. However the salesman managed to hold down one of the defendants and called the police.
“I called my nephew and my cousin and we agreed to steal from the shop. I asked my brother to drive us to the shop but I didn’t inform him about our intention,” the 25-year-old first defendant told prosecutors. The men, aged 24, 25 and 29, were charged with robbery and assault.
