The 28 minute madness
Manama : The video aired by the Islamic State Group, calling on followers to launch attacks against Bahrain also demands that “Bahrain should not follow its own constitution”
This according to the IS proponent, in the video, is against the wish of Allah Almighty.
“The country is allowing people to legislate (referring to the Parliament and Shura Councils), which “should be done only by Allah Almighty”.
The 28-minute video also airs many such views of the alleged Bahraini IS members: “Abu Ishaq Al Bahraini, Abu Adbulraheem Al Bahraini and Abu Hafs Al Bahraini”.
Dislikes UN, ICJ, Arab league…
Interestingly, they had also earlier criticised the Bahraini government for being part of the United Nations, the International Court of Justice, the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
In the video, Abu Ishaq Al Bahraini calls for implementing the Islamic Sharia Law in Bahrain after doing away with the existing judicial institutions.
Lash, stone, behead!
Another demand is to install laws that are ‘compatible with Islam’
Al Bahraini wants to instal sentences like public lashing, stoning and beheading in Bahrain “to be compatible with Islam”.
The video also pays tribute to 14 Bahrainis who were killed while fighting under the organisation’s flag in Iraq, Syria and Libya.
When recently asked about the actual threat of such organisations on Bahrain and the efforts taken to combat them, Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said, “GCC states have taken many steps to fight terrorism and extremism.
“We have taken military and defensive efforts by uniting with our allies in the world to fight IS in Iraq and its surroundings. We’re also involved in fighting terrorists who’re in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden.”
While speaking at a press conference that followed the 37th GCC Summit, the minister said, “There are also efforts taken by the Arabian Coalition to fight the terrorists who’re attempting to overtake Yemen, which is an essential country of the Arabian Peninsula. GCC states have included many organisations in its terrorists’ list, in cooperation with other countries.
“We’re also committed to international and regional agreements that specify tackling terrorists and ban dealing with them.
“We have also followed many international procedures to fight extremist ideologies. All of these efforts are fruitful when it comes to combatting terrorism and extremism.”
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom’s Interior Ministry has revoked the citizenships of multiple Bahrainis who are fighting abroad as part of terrorist organisations, such IS, Hezbollah and others.
