Connecting past and present

ManamaCiti held its fourth annual Citi Alumni Network event at the Four Seasons Hotel thanking former employees for their commitment, handwork and loyalty.

The event, an annual one that Citi has been hosting since 2013, is a global platform that connects 15,000 of the bank’s former employees across the globe. Bahrain Citi Alumni Network is one of 98 networks present in 26 countries around the world.

All employees that worked at Citi in Bahrain and elsewhere for more than one year can sign up in the network’s website: www.alumninetwork.com

“We are keen on building and maintaining our relationship with former colleagues and our Alumni also want to remain connected with each other. The Citi Alumni Event offers one such opportunity for our past and present colleagues to get together every year” commented Usman Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Citi Bahrain.

As part of the annual gathering an exceptional Alumnus receives the “Citi Distinguished Alumni Award”.

This year, Citi presented Talal Al Zain with the “2016 Citi Distinguished Alumni Award” in the Leadership & Ingenuity category. The award is given to an alumnus who distinguished him/herself in their business or personal endeavours through exceptional leadership or ingenuity during and more importantly after they left Citi.

Talal Al Zain said, “My training and my experience at Citi Bahrain, starting at the Corporate Banking division in Bahrain, really shaped my career in finance and banking. I was honoured to have worked with a highly professional team.”

Deema Murad was awarded the “2016 Citi Distinguished Alumni Award” in the Community Involvement category. This is the first year that Citi presents an award in this category to an alumnus since it began hosting the event in 2013. The Community Involvement award is given to alumni who gave a significant contribution to the improvement or enhancement of their community through direct engagement.

Murad led a number of community initiatives whilst working with Citi and did not stop volunteering after leaving Citi.

Murad commented on receiving her award: “It is a great honour to receive this prestigious award. I am very indebted to Citi for my career achievements.”
