Woman gets five year jail for Insulting judiciary
Manama : A Bahraini woman convicted of defaming the judiciary in the Kingdom has had her 5 year imprisonment confirmed by the High Criminal Appeals court.
The defendant is accused of having used a twitter account for broadcasting defaming comments against the judiciary in Bahrain between the years 2013 and 2015.
According to court files, the defendant created a group on the same platform, where she declared ‘war’ against judges here. Based on complaints from judges, the defendant was identified in police investigations, and was charged with insulting the judiciary publicly. She was earlier granted BD300 bail, pending the verdict on appeal.
