Cross Island: Shaikh Nasser shines
Manama : HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, clinched second place in his age group (under 30 years old), and sixth overall during the National Day Cross Island competition held yesterday, organised by Bahrain Road Runners.
The race featured more than 200 athletes from Bahrain and outside and covered a distance of around 16kms from Durrat Al Bahrain to near Bahrain Sailing Club, Zallaq.
All the participants produced solid performances to grab the top places.
Shaikh Nasser praised the performances of participants during the event and hailed the organisation of the race and the big turn-out.
“The competition presented a great opportunity to all athletes of both genders in the Kingdom, to practice sport. The event proved that our athletes enjoy a great fitness level and were physically prepared to compete,” Shaikh Nasser said.
After the completion, Shaikh Nasser crowned the winners.
