Favourite Thorkhill Star clinches race

Manama : The second favourite Thorkhill Star owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Abdulla Faisal won the feature and richest race yesterday for the HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup worth BD10,000 and open to imported three years and upwards over 1,600 metres, in the seventh meeting of the season at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.

Coming in second place a was Bartack owned by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Adrie De Vries, while third place by a neck was pre-race favourite, Baltic Knight owned by Al Afoo Riding Stable, trained by Mohammed Hassan and ridden by Andrea Fele, with fourth place was Chopin owned by Maher Ebrahim Lutfalla, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Fernando Jara.

In the National Day Cup race for imported three years and upwards over 2,400 metres and worth BD5,000, Pressure Point ridden by Brett Doyle came in first by a head ahead of Tonabrocky ridden by Hussain Makki, while third place a further length and three quarter behind was Jumeirah Glory ridden by Andrew Elliott.
