Fast healing honey bandages to take over competitors
Manama : Egyptian researchers, who are on a visit to Bahrain, claim they have achieved a breakthrough in medicine by developing a nanofibre-based dressing that can speed up the healing.
‘NanoEbers’ a wound dressing made of natural materials uses honey and crustacean shells and has no side effects, said Wesam Sarhan, co-founder of NanoEbers.
“We have a cost effective product and because it is natural it does not have any side effects,” she told DT News.
“Unlike other competitors in the market, our product does not have any side effects.
“Other products lack potency as they are missing the nano fibres and the other components that we use. Our products are both natural as well as potent,” she claimed.
Wesam also claimed that her invention is of great significance especially to the Islamic world.
“Since honey is the main component in the product, it is also appealing to the Islamic world,” she pointed out.
Wesam is currently looking for potential investors in Kingdom to push her business further.
She said that they are keen on exploring expansion options in Bahrain and is interested in setting up a factory here.
“We have been speaking to investors here, and we are considering offers from Bahraini as well as GCC investors.
“So if anyone from Bahrain is interested in helping us to set up a factory here they can contact us,” she said.
She created the product with the help of her colleague Dr. Hassan Azzazy.
